I feel better after a year of PAP therapy

As with all medical conditions, improvements or changes to your healthcare should be discussed with your physician. You should not stop using CPAP unless instructed to by your physician. Discontinuing PAP therapy can allow sleep apnea to resume along with its negative health effects.

You may be feeling better because PAP therapy is resolving your sleep disordered breathing.

Benefits of PAP therapy include:

  • Restorative sleep
  • Improvements to depression or other mood disorders
  • Improvement to work productivity.
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Improved heart health
  • Weight loss
  • Improved motivation, alertness and less daytime sleepiness.
  • Improvements to memory
  • Improved energy which can help you with a sustainable exercise program.

A repeat sleep study is the best way to know whether or not you still require treatment with PAP therapy. If you have questions, we recommend you discuss them with your physician or a sleep specialist. Please contact us for a recommendation.
